from series Bohzy
looped single-channel videos (2020)

During a trip to Tehran, I had a terrible fit of vertigo and Persian nettle soup wasn’t helping. To pass the time, my uncle brought me ripped DVDs with menus in Farsi I couldn’t decode. Some buttons led to TV episodes, while others revealed unrelated movies. Buried deep, I even found a slideshow of Pocahontas in hijab. My videos simulate someone digging through DVD menus that fall into the open mouth of memories with a click, much like a lick, but down the z axis. A DVD menu can be a diary, an archive, and a gesture of “bohzy” (play).
